Some winter wedding appreciation from the Tweed Coast!

As we approach the final day of winter, it has us reminiscing on the last few months here on the Tweed Coast. And it’s safe to say that this years winter was truly incredible!

Looking back, there were moments where it didn’t feel like winter at all. With clear blue skies and mild, sunny days – it was the picture-perfect climate for wedding celebrations.

We’ve been seeing a HUGE trend towards winter weddings here on the Tweed Coast, and after experiencing such amazing weather this year we’re predicting an even more beautiful winter to come for 2018. So we thought we’d wrap up the season with some winter wedding appreciation, and a little taste of what winter looks like for us on the Tweed Coast!

It’s generally the warmer months like spring, summer and autumn that receive the most popularity from brides-to-be when planning their wedding, but you might be surprised to hear exactly how the winter weather turns it on for us here on the Tweed Coast!

If you’re a local, you already know how beautiful the last few months have been. But for those living interstate, you’ll be pleased to learn that our blissful winter weather makes the Tweed Coast the perfect location to escape the cooler months down south. Here’s a little insight from the winter weather we experienced on the Tweed Coast in 2017:

-The median weather temperatures across winter sat comfortably at 23 degrees in June, 22 degrees in July and 24 degrees in August, with many days creeping up to 25, 26 and even 27 degrees throughout the last 2 months.

-We experienced only 3 days of rain in July, making it one of the driest months of the year. Although we are lucky enough to have some incredible all-weather wedding venues on the Tweed Coast, it makes sense to take advantage of the months with the least rainfall when planning your wedding if you’re worried about wet weather.

-July was also a winner for us in terms of wind – the average for the month was a mild 11.6km/hour. Compare this to the year-round average of 14.8km (with tops of 81km in March!) and you can see why so many brides are now opting for July weddings.

Our beautiful winter weather allowed Elisha + Michael to make the most of the picturesque garden at Osteria, Casuarina for their wedding celebrations, with the prettiest winter light helping to capture some truly incredible photos. Not to mention the bride wearing one of the coolest wedding accessories of all time – a leather jacket embellished with the word ‘Queen’ (and she rocked it!).

Although winter is a seriously gorgeous season for us (as you can see above!), it’s technically still ‘low season’ for many wedding suppliers – which might be a welcome fact when it comes down to your wedding budget.
